Rapid response: Translation, transfer and exchange of knowledge as a strategy to inform rapid decision-making in the public health system of the state of São Paulo due to the COVID-19 pandemic- EvipOralHealth/ Brazil

Abstract

In June 2018, the School of Dentistry of the University of São Paulo created a group, called Evidence-Informed Policy in Oral Health (EvipOralHealth), to support the formulation process of public policies in oral health based on scientific evidence. The project is linked to Network for Policies Informed by Evidence (EVIPNet), whose objective is to facilitate the use of academic production in the creation of health policies. In 2020, in the face of the covid-19 pandemic, EvipOralHealth established an emergency decision support program for the State Coordination of Oral Health of the State of São Paulo (Figure 3), which started in May, based on the concepts: Knowledge translation (KT); 2. “The transfer of knowledge (Knowledge transfer- KTransfer); 3. Knowledge exchange; 4. Implementation (Graham; Tetroe, 2007; Field et al, 2014; Ferraz; Pereira; Pereira, 2019 ). Also, in 2020, an Oral-Related Health Economics Unit was added to the EvipOralHealth to provide additional information to support the decision-making process and contribute to the creation and implementation of policies.
